Location
The Bulyanhulu Upper East Zone is approximately 2.5 km east of the main Bulyanhulu shaft.
The opportunity
The Zone contains approximately one million gold ounces at 10 g/t within Reef 1 and Reef 2. The mineralisation in the “Zone” is included in current reserves, but it was not scheduled for mining until later in the mine life. However, following model and study reviews we may accelerate mining within the overall life of mine. This would make use of an existing
1.8 km decline to this zone, which is being dewatered and rehabilitated, as well as using excess milling capacity in the process plant.
Forward activity
We are conducting a further feasibility study into this area and are planning the development of test stopes. Both activities will allow us to assess the best mining methods, and the viability of mining the reserves earlier than anticipated.
