The project
The Komarera gold deposit lies about 3 km southeast of North Mara plant and the Nyabirama open-pit operation.
- The mineralization at Komarera is constrained within the “Mara Shear Zone” which strikes 110 degrees and dips 60-80 degrees to the South West.
- The hangingwall rock is predominantly granodiorite, while the footwall rocks within the deposit vary from granodiorite, gabbro and tonalite along strike.
- The mineralization appears to be contained in several steep easterly plunging shoots that have a strike length ~150-200m with several high grade pods within them.
- Potential exists to define open pit resources in excess of 100Koz of gold
Forward activity
Planned activities include infill drilling, metallurgical test-work and geotechnical drilling prior to completing an updated resource model. The target is to move this project into feasibility during 2012 or early 2013.
